City Broadband’s new Pakej Perpaduan offers 100Mbps home internet for just RM69 a month

City Broadband, the internet service provider operated by TNB subsidiary Allo, has now unveiled its latest 100Mbps plan and like many expected it is now much cheaper, priced at just RM69 per month. However, not everyone will be able to apply for it just yet, as it’s actually part of the government Pakej Perpaduan Jalur Lebar Tetap initiative to offer cheaper broadband to B40 groups.

This new plan by City Broadband offers 100Mbps internet with no usage limit at RM69 per month to the B40 community, senior citizens aged 60 and above, police, army and maritime veterans and the differently abled. If you’re interested, you can inquire and purchase it online or at any nearby Kedai Tenaga. The plan will come with a WiFi router and an optical network unit. You will however also need to show a valid MyKad when registering for it.

It should be noted though that when you sign up for the 100Mbps Pakej Perpaduan by City Broadband, you’ll have to sign up for it on a 24-month contract only. Also, if you upgrade your plan to one of City Broadband’s faster internet plans, you will forfeit the Pakej Perpaduan subscription. If you terminate the contract before the end of the two year contract meanwhile, you’ll have to pay an early termination fee equivalent to the remaining months left or RM500, whichever is higher.

City Broadband’s 100Mbps Pakej Perpaduan plan for RM69/month means that it now joins Time in offering a 100Mbps plan at RM69/month as part of the Pakej Perpaduan Jalur Lebar Tetap government initiative. However, while Time’s Pakej MyKabel offering is limited to certain PPR residents within its coverage only, it seems that anyone with City Broadband coverage and eligible for it can apply for their Pakej Perpaduan 100Mbps plan, including new and existing City Broadband users.

Of course, like we mentioned previously City Broadband’s biggest hurdle is its coverage. TNB Allo had already worked throughout last year to improve their fibre coverage, and at the moment covers parts of Penang, Perak, Malacca, Kedah and Johor as well as Cyberjaya in Selangor but do not cover Kuala Lumpur at all.
