Tesla Malaysia: Sunway Pyramid is now a Tesla Supercharger site with four charging bays

Sunway Pyramid has just become the latest Tesla Supercharger site in Malaysia. This is after four Supercharger V3 stalls have been spotted near the mall’s main entrance.

Once the site goes online, it will become the third Supercharger site in the country after Pavilion KL and Sunway Big Box Johor. If you consider Tesla Centre Cyberjaya which also has several Superchargers but is currently off-limits to the public, then Sunway Pyramid would be the fourth such location.

As you can tell from the image, the Supercharger deployment at Sunway Pyramid is a fairly standard V3 setup which includes a 250kW power cabinet that is linked to four charging stalls. Since the area is located within the valet parking area, you may have to pay for an additional valet fee which ranges from RM20 to RM25 per entry but this has not yet been confirmed by the shopping mall itself.

Before the Supercharger deployment, Sunway Pyramid already housed several EV chargers although all of them were the slower AC chargers. Some of them which are Gentari/JomCharge-branded chargers are located in the B1 Preferred Parking zone while there are also another set of Shell Recharge chargers at the P2 Preferred Parking area.

In general, Sunway is currently the leading property developer when it comes to Tesla charging infrastructure. Aside from the Superchargers at Sunway Pyramid, several Tesla Destination Chargers are currently under deployment at Sunway Putra Mall KL and Sunway Velocity Mall Cheras.

As for Sunway Big Box Johor, it has both Superchargers and Destination Chargers. The only other developer that already has Tesla charging infrastructure in its premises at the moment is Pavilion, through deployments in its shopping malls at Bukit Bintang and Damansara Heights.

Aside from them, several other developers have previously signed a deal with Tesla including Gamuda, MRCB, Quill, and Levn Capital. Hence, expect Superchargers and Destination Chargers to pop up at properties under the purview of these developers very soon.
