Nothing Phone 2(a) Plus now official in Malaysia: Here’s everything you need to know

Having been announced globally earlier last month, the Nothing Phone 2(a) Plus is now officially here in Malaysia. Unlike what the term “Plus” usually means in the tech world, the Phone 2(a) Plus isn’t a larger version of the regular Phone 2(a), but rather an upgraded one.

Nothing Phone 2(a) Plus Malaysia price and availability

Offered in a sole variant, the Nothing Phone 2(a) Plus is priced at RM1,999 here in Malaysia. It can be purchased via Nothing’s authorised retailers, including DirectD, TMT, Urban Republic, Vivid Concepts, and SS Solutions.

You can also get the phone online via Nothing’s official stores on Lazada and Shopee, where you will receive extra goodies such as a screen protector, a casing, and a RM10 storewide follower voucher, so long you place your order between now and the 17th of September. CelcomDigi will also be offering the Nothing Phone 2(a) Plus starting October 2024.

Nothing Phone 2(a) Plus specs and features

Looking very much like the regular Phone 2(a), the Nothing Phone 2(a) Plus is available in two colour options, namely Grey and Black, both featuring the brand’s signature Glpyh design language.

At the front, you get the same 6.7″ Full HD+ (2412 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display like the Phone 2(a), featuring a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1300 nits.

Powering the Phone 2(a) Plus is the MediaTek 7350 Pro 5G chip, which is claimed to be 10% faster than the Dimensity 7200 Pro-powered Phone 2(a). This is then paired with 12GB of RAM, which can be boosted to 20GB when needed, along with 256GB of storage.

In the imaging department, the Nothing Phone 2(a) Plus is equipped with a pair of 50MP cameras at the rear. The main shooter features a f/1.88 lens and can shoot videos at up to 4K resolution at 30fps. As for the wide-angle camera, it’s equipped with a f/2.2 lens and has a 114º field of view. There is also a 50MP front camera to shoot your selfies with.

The Nothing Phone 2(a) Plus is IP54 rated, making it resistant to dust and water splashes. There is also a dual stereo speaker setup for you to enjoy your content with.

Supplying power to the midrange smartphone is a 5,000mAh battery, the largest one ever featured in a Nothing Phone, and is claimed to provide up to two days of use on a full charge. Replenishing the battery can be done via 50W fast wired charging, 10% speedier than the Nothing Phone 2(a)’s 45W charging capability.

Software-wise, the Nothing Phone 2(a) Plus runs on Nothing OS 2.6, which is based on Android 14. The London-based company is promising three years of major Android software updates and four years of security patch updates.
