The pricing for Dongfeng Box in Malaysia made its way online. Also known as Nammi 01 in China, the compact EV is set to be launched in Malaysia this Friday, 22 November by Dongfeng’s local partner, Central Auto Distributors Berhad (CADB).
Dongfeng Box to be available with two trims in Malaysia
Here’s the on-the-road (OTR) pricing for Dongfeng Box in Malaysia, according to Hamawangsa AutoMall’s Facebook page:
- Dongfeng Box E3: RM113,700
- Dongfeng Box E3 with white roof: RM115,700
The post also noted that the pricing does not include insurance. It is unclear at the moment whether the same price tag apply to the units that are going to be locally assembled at NexV Manufacturing’s plant in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan.
In case you are wondering, Hamawangsa AutoMall belongs to Hamawangsa Kredit Sdn Bhd who operates two out of the 23 initial Dongfeng Cars Malaysia dealerships listed by CADB back in September.
In fact, both dealerships are located at Hamawangsa AutoMall in Taman Tun Dr Ismail KL and Batu Pahat. Hamawangsa Kredit is part of the SMS Integrated Group which also has Nazamax – the operator of Power Up Tech mobile EV charging service in Penang – under its wings.
Dongfeng Box Malaysia quick specs
Assuming the post by Hamawangsa AutoMall is accurate, this means that the Dongfeng Box for the Malaysian market has a 42.3kWh LFP battery. This is opposed to the Dongfeng Box E2 which has a smaller 31.45kWh battery pack.
With the 42.3kWh battery pack, the Box E3 can deliver 430km of CLTC-rated range. As a comparison, the Box E3 with a 31.45kWh battery pack has a CLTC-rated range of 330km.
However, the CLTC standard is much more lenient than the WLTP standard which is closer to real-life range. Under the WLTP standard, Box E3 maxes out at 310km while the E2 model can provide up to 230km.
The Dongfeng Box for our market has been fitted with a 70kW (94hp) electric motor that also produces 160Nm of torque. The EV has a top speed of 140km/h although the 0 – 100km/h timing was not revealed by CADB and Dongfeng.
CADB’s website also didn’t reveal the charging speed for the Box but its EV Database listing stated that the compact EV can support DC charging speed of up to 88kW. The listing also said that the Box also features a 6.6kW AC onboard charger alongside Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability of up to 3.6kW.
Other features that come standard with the Dongfeng Box includes Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite with Level 2 autonomous driving, 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, 5-inch digital instrument screen, wireless phone charger, and customisable ambient lighting.
