A day after launching their new iPad and iPad Air, Apple has just released its new refreshed MacBook Air for 2025. Besides the upgrade from Apple M3 to Apple M4, the new MacBook Air 13″ and 15″ now come with a new colour. Compared to its predecessor even after the free memory upgrade (8GB to 16GB), the new M4 version is also more affordable with a starting price of RM4,499.

The MacBook Air (M4) 2025 is listed as coming soon and it is offered in 13″ and 15″ versions. Here’s the official pricing in Malaysia before additional configuration.

In the maximum hardware configuration, the MacBook Air (M4) 13 with 32GB unified memory and 2TB SSD costs RM9,599, while the 15″ version costs RM10,599.
For eligible students and staff of educational institutions, Apple’s education pricing starts at RM4,069 for 13″ and RM5,069 for 15″.
The MacBook Air (M4) for 2025 is available in 4 colours including its new Sky Blue option which replaces Space Grey. The other three colours are Silver, Starlight and Midnight.
Overall, the new MacBook Air (M4) is RM500 cheaper than the previous version. As a comparison, last year’s MacBook Air (M3) 13 with 8GB unified memory was initially priced at RM5,199. In October 2024, Apple bumped up the minimum memory for the MacBook to 16GB and reduced the starting price to RM4,999.

The rest of the MacBook Air (M4) 2025 remains mostly unchanged compared to last year’s model. The MacBook Air (M4) 13″ features a 13.6 Liquid Retina display with 500 nits of max brightness that pushes 2560×1664 pixels resolution, while the 15″ version has the same panel that pushes a higher resolution 2880×1864 pixels.
The overall dimensions and weight are identical to the previous model. The 13″ MacBook Air weighs 1.24kg with a thickness of 1.13cm, while the 15″ version weighs 1.51kg and is 1.15cm thick.
The new M4 chip has a 10-core CPU, which is two more than the M3 version. It also boasts higher 120GB/s memory bandwidth (M3: 100GB/s), and support for 32GB memory (M3: up to 24GB).

The MacBook Air 13 and 15 for 2025 still gets a 12MP 1080p Centre stage camera with support for Desk View. For audio, the 13″ version gets a four-speaker sound system with support for spatial audio, while the 15″ version gets a six-speaker setup with force-calling woofers.
The MacBook Air also gets a backlit Magic Keyboard, Touch ID and the usual force touch trackpad.

In terms of connectivity, it supports WiFi 6E (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.3, and both versions still get two Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) ports, along with a MagSafe charging port and a headphone jack.
The MacBook Air 13″ gets a 53.8 Wh battery while the 15″ version gets a larger 66.5Wh unit. According to Apple, both versions still boasts up to 15 hours of wireless web browsing and up to 18 hours of video streaming.
