Touch ‘n Go eWallet (TNG eWallet) users can now directly pay for fuel at Petronas using the app, thanks to a recent partnership between TNG Digital and Setel Ventures. The new deal has led to the creation of Petronas via Setel mini programme inside the TNG eWallet app.
Also known as Setel Mini, it delivers the same fuelling experience as the full Setel app. Once you are already at your chosen Petronas petrol station, open the Petronas via Setel mini programme inside the TNG eWallet and tap on the Purchase Fuel button after making sure that the location of the station is correctly shown in the mini app.

You would then be asked to choose the pump number, fuel amount either in Ringgit or litres, and fuel type. After that, simply tap to pay using TNG eWallet, and you can then begin refuelling your vehicle.
To celebrate the occasion, RM5 worth of Mesra Rewards points will be provided to the first 50,000 transactions made using the Petronas via Setel mini app in the TNG eWallet. For those who are wondering, you can indeed obtain both Mesra Rewards and TNG eWallet’s GoRewards points by using the mini app.

According to the Setel Help’s site, you don’t have to be an existing Setel user to utilise the new Petronas via Setel mini app inside the TNG eWallet. If you have not yet registered a Setel account before this, it will be created through the Authorisation screen using the information on the TNG eWallet app.
Setel app vs Petronas via Setel mini app: What are the differences?

With the new integration with TNG eWallet, does this mean you should forego the original Setel app? Well, maybe not so fast.
For one, the Petronas via Setel mini app is limited to fuel payment. So, if you rely on Setel to pay for other applications such as street parking and EV charging, you still have to use the standalone Setel app.
In addition to that, you only get 1 Mesra Points per litre when you pay for your fuel using the mini app inside the TNG eWallet. With the full-fledged Setel app, you can get between 1.5x to 3x Mesra Points per litre, depending on your Mesra Rewards membership tier.
Furthermore, the TNG eWallet app only has a summary of your fuel payment. You will still need to refer to the Setel app for more comprehensive details regarding your transaction.
