Boost users can now make cross-border QR payments in mainland China by scanning QR codes of Weixin Pay (WeChat Pay) merchants. The expanded international QR acceptance was made possible through integration with UnionPay’s global merchant network.
With the latest cross-border integration, Boost users are now able to:
- Scan and pay at Weixin Pay QR code merchants in China, including static codes at major retail outlets.
- Use Boost for QR payments globally at UnionPay-supported merchants in countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei, South Korea, Cambodia, and Australia.
There are no additional apps or registrations are required for international transactions. Users can simply launch the Boost eWallet app and use “Scan & Pay” as usual.

According to Boost, users can experience transparency and confidence as the app will display real-time foreign exchange rates, clear fee breakdowns and live transaction history within the app.
Besides making cashless payments while travelling overseas, Boost still provides direct accessibility and control of funds to key features such as Boost eWallet top-up, PayFlex Cash-in and Boost Bank auto-add money feature through seamless embedded financial services.

Boost Life CEO Ungku Liza said, “The Boost eWallet has always been the stepping stone for us in building a broader ecosystem of integrated financial services. With our embedded banking journey now in full motion, users don’t need to switch platforms as they can access banking features like Boost PayFlexTM and top-ups from Boost Bank directly within the Boost eWallet app. This cross-border expansion takes that promise further. By tapping into UnionPay’s global footprint and dominant presence in China, Boost users can now enjoy cashless transactions across borders with ease wherever they go.”
Meanwhile, Boost Group CEO Sheyantha Abeykoon said, “Our integration with UnionPay International and Weixin Pay further strengthens our mission to build a future where digital financial access is intuitive, empowering and truly universal.
