MGS5 EV gets RM8,000 price cut, now available from RM107,900

MG Malaysia has announced a price revision for the MGS5 EV and it is now RM8,000 cheaper than before.

Launched locally in May 2025, this is RWD electric SUV was originally priced from RM115,900. It comes in three variants – COM, COM Long Range and LUX Long Range.

On top of that, MG Malaysia is also bundling a “Ultimate Ownership Package” which offers savings of up to RM10,000. This includes the option of having a home wallbox charger or free credits for public chargers.

MGS5 EV new pricing in Malaysia

Here’s the pricing for the MGS5 EV in Malaysia with the latest price revision:

  • MGS5 EV COM 49kWh – RM115,900 RM107,900
  • MGS5 EV COM Long Range 62kWh – RM125,900 RM117,900
  • MGS5 EV LUX Long Range 62kWh – RM135,900 RM127,900

The MGS5 EV is covered by a 7-year / 150,000 vehicle warranty, 8-year / 180,000km battery pack warranty and 8-year / 160,000km motor control unit warranty.

It is offered in 5 colours – Camden Grey, Artic White, Monument Silver, Dynamic Red and Elegant Latte (for LUX Long Range only).

To sweeten the deal, customers can choose to receive a free 7kW AC Wallbox charger (without installation). If you prefer not to get a Wallbox charger, MG is offering the option to receive free charging credits worth RM2,000 in partnership with JomCharge.

MGS5 EV Specs in Malaysia

The MGS5 EV is a mid-sized electric SUV built on the same Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) as the MG4 hatchback. It goes head to head with the likes of the Proton e.MAS 7, BYD Atto 3 and the Omoda E5.

This electric SUV gets a single motor driving the rear wheels with 125kW (168hp) and 250Nm of torque. The base model with 49kWh LFP battery has a WLTP-rated range of 340km while the higher COM and LUX variants with the larger 62kWh LFP battery has a WLTP-rated range of 430km.

In terms of charging, it does single-phase AC charging up to 7kW and it supports DC fast charging of up to 120kW for the 49kWh version and up to 150kW for the 62kWh version.

In terms of trim levels, the base COM model is quite barebones with 17″ wheels, fabric seats, polyurethane steering, reverse camera and four speakers. Meanwhile, the mid-level COM 62kWh version adds leather seats and a 6-way power seat for the driver.

MGS5 EV Preview

The top-spec LUX has more upgraded features including 18″ wheels, rear centre armrest, wireless phone charger, rear reading lamp, rain sensing wipers, 360-degree surround view camera, power tailgate with kick sensor, panoramic sunroof and 6 speakers.

Whichever spec you choose, the MGS5 EV comes equipped with 12.8″ infotainment display with Wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto as standard, along with three USB charging ports.

When it comes to safety features, all three MGS5 EV variants are equipped with MG Pilot features including 7 airbags, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane keep assist (LKA), rear collision warning (RCW) and traffic jam assist.
