Malaysia could be getting its second official Apple Store very soon and early indications suggest that it will be in Putrajaya.
Apple has posted a fresh batch of Apple Retail job vacancies on its careers website, with 22 job openings located in Putrajaya.
This is a strong indication that Apple is getting ready to establish a second official retail location in Malaysia.
22 Apple vacancies based in Putrajaya

As shown above, Apple has started advertising new roles that cover virtually all the positions you would expect for an Apple Store.
This includes Apple Retail Senior Manager, Manager, Technical Expert, Technical Specialist, Pro, Genius, as well as full-time and part-time Specialists.
If you’re keen, you can check out the job listings and submit your CV online.

Is Malaysia’s next Apple Store opening at IOI City Mall?

One possible location is IOI City Mall, which is currently Malaysia’s largest shopping mall.
Located within IOI Resort City, the mall currently has approximately 2.5 million sq ft of net lettable area following the opening of Phase 2 in 2022. IOI Properties is currently developing Phase 3, which would add an extra one million sq ft of net lettable area. Phase 3 is expected to be completed in 2030.
Given its size and retail significance in Putrajaya, IOI City Mall is speculated to be a strong candidate for Apple’s next retail location. However, do note that there’s no confirmation from Apple or IOI Properties that the new Apple Store will be opening there.
Apple started hiring 18 months before Apple The Exchange TRX opened

Interestingly, Apple’s latest recruitment drive looks similar to what happened before Malaysia’s first Apple Store opened at The Exchange TRX.
Back in December 2022, we spotted Apple advertising 11 retail positions in Malaysia. These included Store Leader, Manager, Senior Manager, Market Leader, Genius, Creative, Specialist and Technical Specialist roles.
At the time, Apple hadn’t announced plans to open an official retail store in Malaysia, but the nature of the vacancies was a strong indication that one was coming.
The recruitment continued into January 2023, when several of the Apple Retail vacancies were still available.

Apple eventually opened Apple The Exchange TRX on 22 June 2024, approximately 18 months after we first spotted the retail job listings.
The three-storey Apple Store at The Exchange TRX was Apple’s first official retail store in Malaysia and remains its only location in the country today.
If Apple follows a similar recruitment timeline for Putrajaya, we could still be more than a year away from seeing the second store open its doors.
What do you get at an official Apple Store?

Having another Apple Store isn’t merely about adding another place to buy an iPhone, Mac or iPad.
One of the biggest advantages is the personalised retail and after-sales experience. Apple Specialists can provide product advice and help customers choose and set up their devices, while the Genius Bar provides technical support and troubleshooting.
Apple Stores also offer Today at Apple, which provides free sessions covering topics such as photography, video, art and other ways to get more out of Apple devices.

Another notable advantage is Apple’s 14-day return and refund policy. Eligible products purchased directly from Apple can be returned within 14 days, subject to Apple’s return conditions.
As highlighted before, an Apple Store doesn’t mean Apple is replacing its existing network of authorised retailers in Malaysia. Instead, it would expand Apple’s own direct retail footprint alongside its existing partners.
