Samsung has officially launched its newest budget phone in Malaysia, the Galaxy A08.
The phone is said to have an impressive 6,000mAh battery, six years of promised software updates, and extra AI features.
However, sticking to a 4G Helio G99+ processor and a simple camera setup means it will have a hard time competing against better equipped phones at this price point.

The Samsung Galaxy A08 is available in Malaysia starting today at an official retail price of RM899.
Buyers can pick from three colour options, namely Dark Blue, Silver, and Green.
Aside from official Samsung physical stores and authorised dealers, you can order the phone online via their official website.

Starting with the display, the Galaxy A08 features a 6.7 inch PLS LCD screen with HD+ resolution. Despite housing a larger battery, Samsung managed to fit the screen and internal components into a slim 8.0mm body.
Under the hood, the phone runs on a MediaTek Helio G99+ processor paired with 6GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB of internal storage. While the faster RAM helps with power efficiency, using this chip means you are limited to 4G networks in 2026.
Samsung also includes its toggleable RAM Plus virtual memory feature to temporarily add another 6GB of virtual RAM, which you can easily disable to keep internal storage free for photos and videos. Storage is also expandable up to 2TB via microSD.
For photos, Samsung markets the rear 50MP main camera as a Pro Grade sensor with advanced image processing.
However, this is still a basic wide camera that will likely struggle in dark environments. It comes paired with a 2MP depth sensor that adds little practical value, alongside an 8MP front camera for selfies and video calls.
Battery life is the standout feature here, thanks to a massive 6,000mAh cell that should easily last well beyond a full day of heavy daily use.
As for other perks, the device comes with an IP64 rating for basic protection against dust and water splashes.
Software longevity is another strong point, as Samsung promises up to six major Android OS updates and six years of security patches.
Hardware security is backed by EAL5+ certified Knox Vault with private albums for locking sensitive photos.
Lastly, you get software features like Google Circle to Search with AI Overviews, Find the Look, and access to AI assistants like Google Gemini and Perplexity via voice or a long press.
Is the Samsung Galaxy A08 worth your money?
On paper, the Galaxy A08 gives you outstanding battery life and long term software support that is hard to find in this price range.
Even so, the lack of 5G connectivity, a basic secondary camera, and a modest processor make it hard to recommend over other feature packed choices in the market.
