Tesla Centre Cyberjaya officially opened its door to the public today, marking yet another milestone in Tesla’s journey in Malaysia since the company officially launched the Model Y over here back in July. Also houses the headquarters of Tesla Malaysia, the company has installed quite a number of chargers at its new facility.
Located at the facility’s rather massive car park, there are 16 charging bays according to our count this morning. 8 of them were Supercharger stalls that are connected to two 250kW power cabinets. In general, the Supercharger setup at Tesla Centre Cyberjaya is identical to the one in Pavilion KL.
Meanwhile, the other 14 chargers were the slower Destination Chargers which are essentially the same Wall Connector that the company offers for home charging. Tesla Malaysia did not reveal the charging speed for this particular spot but as a reference, 11kW is the maximum AC charging speed that Model Y and Model 3 Highland can support.
Aside from Cyberjaya, Sunway Big Box Johor is the only other location in Malaysia that has both Superchargers and Destination Chargers at the moment. On the other hand, Sunway Putra Mall KL only provides Destination Chargers to visitors.
For Tesla owners out there who are already eager to test out these chargers at Cyberjaya, hold your electric horses first. The Superchargers and Destination Chargers at the facility are meant for internal use at the moment, despite being mentioned in the presentation slide by the Regional Director of Tesla, Isabel Fan.
So for now, these chargers will remain private indefinitely and Tesla Malaysia has no firm plan whether to open these chargers to the public at a later time. Nevertheless, we will keep you posted if there are any updates regarding the EV charging facility at Tesla Centre Cyberjaya.
