Feel the Rush: Take a Taxi Ride in the Hottest EVs at Sepang International Circuit

If you’ve ever been curious about what it feels like when EVs really stretch their legs, this is your chance. On Sunday, 28 September 2025, we’re bringing the SoyaCincau Pop-up EV Clinic: Track Edition to the Sepang International Circuit.

And one of the main highlights is our EV Taxi Ride.

What’s the Taxi Ride (Not Just Any Ride)

Forget the usual “taxi ride” you’re picturing. This isn’t a slow trip from KLIA to town. This is about buckling into a performance EV and experiencing full-throttle hot laps at Sepang with none other than Amin Ashaari at the wheel. You’ll feel the straights, the corners, the braking zones and everything that makes Sepang iconic, delivered at pace.

Think less “taxi” and more “track passenger experience.” The kind that makes your pulse quicken and your hands grip the door handle.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N: The EV That Doesn’t Feel Like an EV

Now here’s where things get really interesting. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N might leave you scratching your head. One moment you’re hearing gear changes, the next you’re feeling the shove of torque and even simulated revs. You’ll start asking yourself: “Wait, is this really an EV, or did someone sneak an ICE car in here?”

That’s because Hyundai has loaded the Ioniq 5 N with N e-Shift (to mimic gearshifts) and N Active Sound+ (to simulate engine notes). This is a package designed to give enthusiasts the visceral feedback they usually miss with EVs. Underneath the fun, it’s a serious machine:

  • Up to 650 PS and 770 Nm with N Grin Boost engaged.
  • 0–100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 260 km/h.

It’s the kind of EV that makes purists sit up and take notice. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is not just a fun EV, but a fun car, period. And you’ll get to feel it from the passenger seat.

Tesla Model Y Performance: Instant Power, Track-Ready Grip

Of course, the lineup doesn’t stop there. The Tesla Model Y Performance is all about explosive acceleration. Using dual motors, it rockets from 0–100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. On the track, that instant torque combined with AWD grip means you’re pinned to your seat the moment Amin slams the accelerator. It’s clinical, it’s quick, and it shows why Tesla still sets the benchmark in EV performance.

Proton e.MAS 7: The local contender, sharpened for the track

Then there’s the home entry: the Proton e.MAS 7, running on FTuned suspension. Think of this as an everyday EV given a proper track-minded setup. Firmer damping, quicker responses, reduced body roll and a more direct turn-in. On Sepang, that translates to a car that feels more connected and confidence-inspiring under braking and mid-corner.

A front-motor setup produces 218 PS and 320 Nm of torque, doing 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, and topping out at 175 km/h. For enthusiasts, the appeal is simple: a non-performance EV tuned to show what proper suspension work can do.

MG Cyberster: A Roadster with Electric Muscle

MG Cyberster EV

And finally, the head-turner of the lineup: the MG Cyberster. This isn’t just another EV SUV or sedan but a full-blown electric roadster. With 544 PS and 725 Nm, it’s not just about style; it delivers the performance to back up its drop-top looks. With a 0-100 km/h time of 3.2 seconds, it accelerates harder than the Tesla Model Y Performance.

Imagine blasting around Sepang, wind rushing over the roofline, and torque pushing you deep into the seat. It’s pure theatre, and yes, you’ll get to ride shotgun.

How the Taxi Ride Works

At the event, participants will get the chance to select one model from the lineup for their taxi ride experience. Once registered, you’ll be taken around the Sepang International Circuit for three laps alongside Amin Ashaari, giving you a real taste of the car’s performance in a controlled environment.

Do note that each sign-up entitles you to one ride (3 laps of Sepang) in a single vehicle, so choose wisely which model excites you most. You are required to bring your own helmet; however, a full-face helmet is not mandatory.

More Than Just Taxi Rides

Of course, the Taxi Ride is just one part of the EV Clinic Track Edition. The event also includes:

  • EV Track Day sessions (with optional driver coaching)
  • EV Parade Lap
  • Battery Health Check for your EV by Autel
  • On-site DC fast chargers by EVC (free for participants)
  • Brand showcases from Sparklin, Trapo, Tesmods, and FTuned Racing
