Telekom Malaysia (TM)’s wholesale arm, TM Global, has completed its fifth cable landing station (CLS) in Morib, Selangor. The Morib CLS is Malaysia’s first open cable landing station along the Straits of Malacca, designed to strengthen international connectivity while enhancing route diversity and reducing latency for regional traffic flows.
Spanning 7,000 square feet, the Morib CLS allows multiple service providers to interconnect and exchange connectivity and data traffic seamlessly. It is supported by a dedicated Network Operations Centre (NOC) that provides 24/7 real-time monitoring to improve operational reliability and service assurance.
TM Global Executive Vice President, Khairul Liza Ibrahim said, “The completion of the Morib CLS represents a pivotal step in enhancing Malaysia’s global connectivity. Strategically located along the Straits of Malacca, one of the world’s most important subsea cable routes, the open CLS serves as an ideal landing point—offering direct international access, improved route diversity, and reduced latency. Its proximity to Klang Valley’s data centre clusters further supports seamless network integration, optimising end-to-end data transmission efficiency.”
Built for scale, sustainability, and future cable systems

As part of TM’s Digital Powerhouse 2030 ambition, the Morib CLS has been purpose-built with energy efficiency and scalability in mind. It is capable of supporting up to three submarine cable systems which includes the SEA-ME-WE 6 system. Sustainability features include low-power cooling systems and solar-powered streetlights.
Liza added, “Beyond this milestone, TM Global is enhancing its digital transformation footprint, with data centres and Edge Facilities scaled up to 40MW. Construction is also underway for a new AI-ready data centre in collaboration with Singtel’s Nxera, with a planned capacity of up to 200 MW.”
TM has decades of experience in submarine cable infrastructure, with 33 owned and leased submarine cable systems spanning more than 275,000 kilometres globally. The Morib CLS further reinforces Malaysia’s positioning as a regional digital hub by providing critical infrastructure for growing international demand.
