Tesla Model 3 and Model Y now listed with up to 55km more range

Tesla has quietly revised the advertised WLTP-rated range for several Model 3 and Model Y variants in Malaysia which now offers slightly more range than before.

The updated range of about 5-8% extra is reflected on both new customised orders and new stocks in their inventory list.

In addition, the updated Tesla order page now reflects the estimated range when you change the optional wheel sizes.

To recap, Tesla typically advertised its WLTP-rated range based on the smallest wheel option which obviously offers better energy efficiency. If you choose to customise your Tesla with the bigger wheels, you will see that the estimated range will take a hit as shown above.

With the latest revision on the website, we noticed an increase of 14km to 55km for several variants which include the Model 3/Y Premium RWD, Model Y Long Range RWD and Model 3/Y Long Range AWD.

Variants that are unaffected include the new Model 3 Standard RWD “Rahmah” model, Model 3 Premium Long Range RWD and Model 3 Performance.

Tesla Model 3 current WLTP-rated range

The Tesla Model 3 Premium RWD now has the same 534km WLTP-rated range as the cheaper Standard RWD version. While the range for the Model 3 Premium Long Range RWD remains unchanged at 750km, the Long Range AWD version gets a significant bump from 660km to 715km.

Here’s the full list of WLTP-rated range for the full Model 3 lineup including different wheel options:

  • Tesla Model 3 Standard RWD 18″ – 534km
  • Tesla Model 3 Premium RWD 18″ – 534km (Previously: 520km, +14km)
  • Tesla Model 3 Premium RWD 19″ – 520km
  • Tesla Model 3 Premium Long Range RWD 18″ – 750km
  • Tesla Model 3 Premium Long Range RWD 19″ – 691km
  • Tesla Model 3 Premium Long Range AWD 18″ – 715km (Previously: 660km, +55km)
  • Tesla Model 3 Premium Long Range AWD 19″ – 660km
  • Tesla Model 3 Performance AWD 20″ – 571km

Tesla Model Y current WLTP-rated range

For the Tesla Model Y, we are seeing range increase of 22km to 30km across the board. The most notable range “upgrade” is the Premium Long Range RWD which is now listed with 691km instead of 661km for the base 19″ wheel size.

Here’s the full list of WLTP-rated range for the full Model Y lineup including different wheel options:

  • Tesla Model Y Premium RWD 19″ – 488km (Previously: 466km, +22km)
  • Tesla Model Y Premium RWD 20″ – 466km
  • Tesla Model Y Premium Long Range RWD 19″ – 691km (Previously: 661km, +30km)
  • Tesla Model Y Premium Long Range AWD 19″ – 629km (Previously: 600km, +29km)
  • Tesla Model Y Premium Long Range AWD 20″ – 600km

Interestingly, the Tesla Model Y Long Range RWD is only offered with 19″ Crossflow wheels, with no option to upgrade to 20″ Helix 2.0 wheels.

Although there’s no indication of upgraded battery packs, the improved range is likely a result of improved efficiency with the latest software update.

While it isn’t explicitly mentioned in the latest 2026.2.3 release notes, it is possible that Tesla could have optimised its battery management system, motor and inverter tuning and even thermal management to squeeze extra range from its existing batteries.
