If you have ever wanted to step inside the halls where Malaysia’s laws are made, you are in luck. Following its public debut in May 2023, the Parliament of Malaysia is opening its doors once again for Program Hari Terbuka Parlimen Malaysia 2026.
Held in conjunction with the Parliament’s 67th anniversary, this year’s open day carries the theme “Merakyatkan Parlimen: Reformasi Institusi Perundangan Malaysia”. The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between lawmakers and the public. Speaking to Bernama, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul explained that the event aims to bring the public closer to Parliament and allow Malaysians to experience the country’s “House of Democracy” first-hand.
He emphasised that democracy begins in Parliament, as it brings together the people’s representatives. “We want people to experience Parliament first-hand rather than simply viewing it from a distance. Come inside and see for yourselves. This is Parliament, this is your House,” Johari told Bernama.

Dates, Operating Hours, and Registration
Just like its previous edition in 2023, the best part about this year’s open day is that no prior registration or application is required, visitors can simply walk in for free.
- Dates: Saturday, 12 September and Sunday, 13 September 2026
- Time: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Entrance: Free walk-in admission
How to get there and where to park
While visitors are allowed to park at the Parliament’s multi-storey parking facility, space is limited. To avoid the hassle of finding a spot, you are highly encouraged to use public transport.
The organisers are providing a Free Shuttle Service (Laluan T851) that will operate from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM. The shuttle connects three key stops:
- KL Sentral (Pick-up/drop-off at the ERL Departure Hall)
- Taman Botani Perdana (Near the multi-storey parking)
- Parlimen Malaysia (Near the cafeteria/temporary building)
Dress code: Smart Casual is mandatory
Since the Parliament is a highly respected official institution, a strict dress code applies. All visitors must wear Smart Casual attire that is neat, polite, and not revealing.
What is allowed:
- Collared shirts, suits, and blazers
- Traditional attire (Baju Melayu, Baju Kurung, etc.)
- Long trousers, slacks, and covered shoes
- Blouses and modest dresses
What is strictly prohibited:
- Shorts and short skirts
- Ripped jeans
- Sleeveless tops (tank tops)
- Slippers, sandals, or flip-flops
What to see and do
The open day is divided into three main segments with plenty of activities for visitors of all ages:
1. Segmen Parlimen Kita (Our Parliament Segment)
This is the main highlight for history and politics buffs. Visitors have the rare opportunity to personally enter and tour the Dewan Negara (Senate) and Dewan Rakyat (House of Representatives). You can also visit the Parliament Gallery and Library, view digital exhibitions, check out the Malaysian Youth Parliament (PBMy) activities, and purchase official souvenirs.
2. Segmen Khidmat Kepada Rakyat (Service to the People Segment)
Need to sort out some official errands? Several government agencies will set up mobile service counters, including the Road Transport Department (JPJ), National Registration Department (JPN), and the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK).
You can also participate in free health screenings and a blood donation drive. For entertainment, there will be e-sports, futsal, traditional interactive games, singing performances, free movie screenings, and a Robotics/Virtual Reality (VR) exhibition.
3. Segmen Membangun Malaysia (Building Malaysia Segment)
If you are looking to shop or grab a bite, this section features product sales by various agencies, an Agro MADANI sale, and a dedicated zone for food trucks.
