If you’re looking for a DC fast charger in Kuantan, ChargEV has deployed a 60kW DC Charger at Starbucks Kuantan Indera Mahkota drive-thru and it’s priced based on kWh usage. This is a great stop to top-up your EV quickly if you’re travelling to the East Coast. In case you missed it, the sole EV charger on LPT westbound between Kuantan and Kuala Lumpur is currently unavailable. The new charger is one of the alternatives where you can charge up your EV before driving back to the Klang Valley.
The 60kW DC Charger at the Starbucks drive-thru is priced at RM1.20 per kWh. This is the same rate as other ChargEV chargers found at various Starbucks locations in the country, including the recently deployed unit at PD Waterfront. With kWh pricing, your EV charging session is charged based on the actual electricity consumed instead of time spent at the charger. This means a 30kWh charge which provides approximately 150-200km of range (depending on driving efficiency) would cost you RM36.
According to its PlugShare listing, this 60kW DC charger has two CCS2 nozzles which can charge a single EV up to 60kW or two EVs simultaneously at up to 30kW each. Based on the check-ins, the charger has been up and running since the first week of August and it was initially offered free of charge.
This is the fourth DC charger in Kuantan and it is the first to use kWh-based pricing. Other existing DC chargers in Kuantan include TJM Cars Kuantan (60kW), BMW Millennium Welt (30kW) and Mega View Hotel (40kW).
